If you’re on a tight budget but need to get leads for your business, there is no better way to do it than to write articles. Most people shy away from this powerful tool because they are afraid that they don’t have anything interesting to say, or they just don’t like the idea of writing.
This is understandable, but the benefits of writing articles are too numerous to ignore. First, you become a published author the moment you post your first piece of content; this alone adds instant credibility to your bio.
It is also a fact that when people see things in print, they automatically accept them as fact, which gives you a prime opportunity to position yourself as a source for knowledge.

1. Become proficient at reviewing content – remember Siskel and Ebert who did movie reviews? Those gentlemen made quite a name for themselves, and a lot of money by simply reviewing movies. 2. REMIX! – We’ve all heard this term when it comes to music when a composer of music takes some existing content and adds their own flair. Believe it or not, there are a lot of people who read other people’s content and do their own version and put it out in the marketplace and get paid top dollar. Use the other content as a template to showcase your own creativity without starting from scratch. This is why you’ll find similar content in several books with the same basic category. Don’t re-invent the wheel; just paint it a different color and add a few more spokes and there you have it.
3. Interview interesting people from your field of expertise – Oprah Winfrey comes to mind here. Now, last time I checked, she was a Billionaire, right? That all started from her talk show that aired for the first time over 20 years ago. What do talk show hosts do? They interview other interesting people, and in Oprah’s case she became famous doing that. Everyone likes to hear interesting stories and expert commentary on their favorite subject, so go out and find people to interview and transcribe it. If you get an hour long interview, you can dissect that into several interesting articles compelling your viewers to “tune in” for the next segments in the coming days or weeks.
Take the pressure off yourself when it comes to writing articles. Be creative and innovative in branding yourself. At the end of the day, you’re the expert so do what you have to do to own that space.

I’ve struggled today to come up with what to write about. Now you have more than just a hit; you have an actual lead. See how easy that works? Forget about trying to impress your target audience with your image. Image is nothing; profits are everything. Wouldn’t you rather have a “vanilla” website that kicks out boat loads of leads over a “Hollywood Beauty” that is no more than eye candy?
Refocus on what’s important and that’s getting leads. You have to give in order to get, so figure out the great giveaway and position it in front of a lot of people. The right traffic with turn into leads. The right leads will turn into business.

If you are not familiar with what it is, it is the concept of building relationships with people and offering something of value for their time. So many new Internet Marketers make the mistake of trying to “sell someone” their product the second they make contact. (I admit, I made the same mistake starting out.)

People do business with people who they both like and trust, and you’re not going to get my trust if you and I don’t know each other. We were all taught as children not to talk to strangers, and this seems to extent to the concept of doing business.
Giving value starts with turning off the goal of making money completely, and turning on the goal of genuinely helping through education. Not many people want to accept the fact that it takes time to build relationships because they are after a quick buck. What suffers from this approach is that you have to go through a lot of people, burn a lot of energy, and spend a lot of money just to get a few people to transact.
One example of how to generate leads through value-based marketing is writing articles. However, you can’t write an article with the goal of making money or even getting a lead. I know that sounds backward, but let me explain. When writing an article, it must be 95% “Give” and 5% “take.”
What that means is, when someone reads your content, they must feel that the information is purely educational and can quickly benefit their situation upon the conclusion of reading your content. So, 95% of the content must contain useful tips, guides, instructions, etc. The remaining 5% represents your contact information and a “soft campaign” towards getting more information – not buying.
This approach will require consistency over time because your audience must learn to like and trust you. When you see someone on a regular basis and their message is consistent, you begin to recognize them and through that familiarity you begin to trust them.
When someone thinks about getting information about a given subject, who comes to their mind? The one that has given the most value, that’s who. You want to be anchored in the mind of your target audience as a trusted advisor in the area of your expertise, not a salesperson looking to make money on them.
What can you do starting today to position yourself as a leader and expert? Decide to start publishing content in various formats (video, audio, text, slide show, etc.) and placing that content in front of those who are looking for access to that information. The people who get paid the most are those who SOLVE PROBLEMS for the most number of people.
Once you experience the sensation of someone calling you for advice on a given subject, or looking to transact with you even if you’ve never spoken to them before, you’ll be sold out on this approach. It happens for countless numbers of professionals who understand this “secret,” and now it is available to you.
